Bountiful retirement garden

The couple were downsizing and as a keen gardener the client was loathe to lose her previous garden which she had nurtured for 30 years. The huge blank canvass left her at a loss of where to start…. Having taken the detailed brief I wanted to create a garden that allowed the couple both a beautiful cultivated garden but also a really useful working area. The first section of the garden has a series of different seating areas from which to enjoy the sun and shade at different points in the day and enjoy different views of the garden. All the paths were made as accessible as her husband has ongoing mobility issues. It was important to future proof the garden.

The second part of the garden is a practical working area with new greenhouse, raised beds and gravel paths. Giving the client space for both edibles and ornamentals to enjoy as cut flowers. There is water which we brought up to the greenhouse, and practical working areas for potting etc. the client has been able to grow all kinds of vegetables.
