A Tropical Sanctuary
This garden was overgrown and unloved. This made it feel narrow long and unusable. The clients wanted a garden that felt modern, spacious and inviting for their friends and family. They love to entertain and wanted to feel that had different areas to enjoy throughout the day to evening. They also wanted a more tropical architectural and contemporary feel to the garden.
We created a new wooden deck outside the kitchen with plenty of space for a larger tables and chairs. The steps down are generous and shallow so that it feels easy to wander down into the garden itself. The single pergola arch detail framing different views of the garden as you come down the steps. There is a large porcelain terrace with plenty of space for a big corner sofa, low table and mood lighting on the pergola. There is also plenty of room for BBQ which can be moved around as required.
As you progress further down the garden there is an oval lawn surrounded by planting and a beautiful rainbow sandstone water feature to give a peaceful tranquil feel to the garden. Big enough for a hammock or rug, the lawn gives the clients a space to take some time and enjoy being surrounded by nature and just hear the bubbling of the water and really switch off.
At the end of the garden, we created a fire pit with sunken seating and small outdoor wet bar for those later evenings with friends where you can while away the hours with good conversation around the fire. There was an existing summer house which will be renovated and used as an office. The décor has been chosen to reflect and echo the garden thereby creating a lovely flow inside and out.
